Ivey and Betsy… what can I say about this couple; they’re fun, warm, lovable lively and the best kind of nerdy. They were married in an amazing cabin near Mt. Hood, probably one of the only places in the state with real snow! I had a blast at this wedding. They had so many creative, original details tucked into every corner of the cabin it was like a scavenger hunt trying to capture all the little inside jokes and hidden love notes to each other.

Google recently unveiled an interesting little page called Google for Weddings filled with links and ideas for planning your wedding. Everything from using Google Docs to create sharable timelines and schedules to creating a whole personal wedding website with Google Sites. Might not take the industry by storm but it’s good to see all these tools put together in a way that helps brides out with some of the stress of planning a wedding. [Google for Weddings]

Don’t say I never gave ya nothin!

er, um… just kidding.

This year I’ve restructured my pricing to try to combat some of the effects of our never-ending recession. I hate turning away wonderful clients because my packages are out of their budget, it doesn’t happen often but it does happen, so I’ve also added a basic package and some other options to try to meet people where they are. I’m not above working on a bride-by-bride basis either so don’t be afraid to ask if there are ways to shave of a few bucks here and there.

Still PLENTY of space on my calendar for this year and things are starting to pick up so don’t wait too long!

April & Eric are amazing. They got married in western Virginia in the beginning of October and were straight-up awesome enough to fly my wife and me out to shoot their wedding and spend the night at Firmstone Manor, where the ceremony took place. Best location shoot ever.

Wedding Photography Rumble

Apparently these two wedding photographers (videographers?) got into a particularly heated debate on Canon v. Nikon and decided to let their wildly flailing fists give the closing arguments. I’m sure both guys took their licks but the worst part is the sound of those cameras being slammed to the ground. Bruises heal and egos get checked, but the noise a couple grand worth of plastic and glass makes when it hits concrete is something that you’ll live with for the rest of your life.

I thought artists were supposed to be gentle souls….
